Excitement continues to build for the Steelers Dolphins opener next Thursday as part of the NFL's Kickoff 2007. Tickets are hard to come by, with prices ranging from $200-$1500. (Season tickets are also available for as low as $1,250). Pregame festivities will include a pregame concert by Rascal Flats and the National Anthem will be performed by Martina McBride.

The End of the Steelers Camping Trip and DeadSpin (literally)

We're in the final couple of days of Steelers training camp in Latrobe, PA. St. Vincent's College will host it's final session of the 2006 training camp on Wednesday. Men's News Daily takes a minute to recap what makes a day at Pittsburgh's training camp so great.

Yesterday, Deadspin covered the case of a woman who purchased tickets on e-bay for the September 7 game against the Miami Dolphins last November. This is a pre-Super Bowl victory, pre-2006 schedule ticket transaction made possible by the NFL's scheduling formula that let's you know who to expect where in what season. Well, let's just say the guy selling the tickets wasn't as lucky as the guy that had a heart attack after the terrible tackle -- although it's unclear as to whether rigor mortis set in before or after the XL victory. Makes StubHub's Fan Protect Guarantee seem totally worth it.

A Highly Qualified Man

Ray Morrow has been appointed the head of the FBI's Pittsburgh Field Office. Among his qualifications according to KDKA: Mr. Morrow is a long-time holder of Steelers season tickets.

We'll find out September 18

From Vic Ketchum on Jaguars.com, some lingering fear of the towel waving hoard:

James From Jacksonville: How many of the season tickets were sold to people living outside of our city? I'm worried that the reason we sold that many was because of our basement prices and our attractive schedule.

Vic: We'll find out on Sept. 18. Ticket brokers are a new fact of life in the NFL. Because of the enormous popularity of the NFL and because there are a handful of teams whose fans will go anywhere to see their teams play, selling tickets now has a national scope.
Help Vic find out. Ticket for the Steelers Monday Night Game against the Jacksonville Jaguars are available on StubHub from $75 and on TicketLiquidator.com from $99.

Arizona Tailgate Update

One week to go before the Pittsburgh Steelers first pre-season game vs. the Arizona Cardinals. A couple of updates for fans going to the game:

  • Arizona Cardinals Tailgating. The Arizona Cardinals will not allow charcoal grills of any kind, and gas and electric grills may only be used in Sportsman's Park on the Southwest corner of the stadium. There is some debate as to how strict this policy is or how effectively it will be enforced. Some parking areas are quite far from Sportsman's Park. And oh, yeah, the current high temperature is expected to be 103 degrees, so bring your sunscreen.
  • Steelers bar in Arizona. If you're in the Phoenix area and don't have tickets to next Saturday's game, consider R.T. O'Sullivan's on Southern Avenue in Mesa. Owner Ray O'Sullivan says large crowds of Steelers fans have been gathering at the home of $2 Harps for more than 10 years. While a lot of fans will be headed to the game, he expects to sell a lot of Iron City Beer and good food to a lot of Steelers fans.

Got Cardinals Steelers Tickets? Get There Early

The Arizona Republic reports that Glendale Stadium officials are asking fans to arrive early for the Arizona Cardinals game vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers on August 12. The 8/12 game is a sellout, and the Steelers Cardinals tickets are highly coveted because it will be the 1st game in the new state-of-the-art Glendale Stadium.

The first game will be the first chance to test traffic patterns around the stadium. With little public transportation available, virtually all of the 60,000 fans will arrive by car. While the new stadium is adjacent to the Phoenix Coyotes home, the Glendale Arena, it is several miles west of Sun Devil Stadium and Chase Field, the two Phoenix-area stadiums that fans are used to navigating.
